Tony's commuter won this years award for "Best City Bike" at the North American Hand Made Bicycle Show. There are so many possibilities and options that can be incorporated into a city bike, they are some of most involved and most interesting bicycles that I build. In this case, Tony wanted a bicycle that leans a little more toward a mountain bike style. We used lugs for the classic feel, and Zebrano wood for the rack base and fenders. It's got a single stem shifter and is a nine speed bicycle, since, for most everyone's commuting needs, nine is plenty. We picked out all the best components for this bicycle, things that were built to last for many years and uncountable miles of riding. There's a Schmidt front generator hub, and the light has internal wiring up the rack leg to keep everything clean and out of the way. This bicycle was definitely built with function in mind, and all the added flair was considered as an extension and enhancement of the central purpose. I feel quite honored that it took the trophy this year. Tony now has a really excellent bicycle.
